Pixel Artworks delivered one of the most ambitious New Year’s Eve visual displays in Europe, combining projection, lighting, animation, and fireworks to transform the London Eye into a landmark of immersive spectacle. The project, showcased to millions of live and broadcast viewers, set new standards for large-scale event integration and creativity.

For the 2026 celebration, Pixel Artworks teamed with creative agency Identity to implement cutting-edge Hologauze projection technology, allowing animated visuals to appear as though they floated beyond the London Eye’s structure. The effect, described as “breaking the frame,” delivered unprecedented depth and visual storytelling in a city-scale broadcast event.

A Technical and Creative Milestone

The New Year’s Eve show combined:

  • More than 12,000 fireworks and over 400 lighting elements along the Thames

  • Hologauze projections seamlessly integrated with the London Eye structure

  • A soundtrack narrating key cultural and national moments from 2025

By merging projection mapping, lighting design, audio, and pyrotechnics, Pixel Artworks demonstrated the growing role of AV integration in large-scale public events, creating immersive experiences that resonate both in-person and via broadcast.

Why This Matters for AV & Integration Professionals

This landmark project illustrates several trends for the European pro-integration community:

  1. Projection beyond flat surfaces: Hologauze allows visuals to extend beyond traditional boundaries, creating floating imagery.

  2. Integrated multi-disciplinary production: Success required coordination between projection, lighting, pyrotechnics, sound, and broadcast teams.

  3. Narrative-driven content: Audiences now expect immersive storytelling in public events, not just spectacle.

  4. Scalable technical solutions: Large-format immersive installations like this set benchmarks for future city-scale events and corporate experiences.

Pixel Artworks’ London Eye project demonstrates how creativity, technology, and integration expertise combine to create landmark live experiences.
