NETGEAR and Riedel Announce Global Partnership

By
2 Minute Read

A major shift in the AV-over-IP landscape is underway as NETGEAR and Riedel Communications officially enter a global partnership, an announcement first reported by AV Technology, a widely recognised industry source for professional AV news.

The collaboration pairs NETGEAR’s established Pro AV networking switches with Riedel’s MediorNet video distribution and Artist intercom ecosystems, creating a unified offering for broadcasters, live event operators, and AV integrators worldwide.

Why This Partnership Matters Globally

Both companies hold influential positions across the international AV market:

  • Riedel Communications, headquartered in Germany, is a worldwide leader in signal transport, intercom solutions, and distributed media systems used in global sports broadcasts, large-scale events, theatre productions, and government operations.

  • NETGEAR, based in the US with global operations, has become one of the most widely adopted manufacturers of AV-friendly network switches, particularly designed for Dante, NDI, IPMX, and ST 2110–based workflows.

By aligning their technologies and support models, the partnership aims to reduce complexity for AV-over-IP deployments, an area where many integrators still face challenges with interoperability, network tuning, and project commissioning.

A Strategic Move for the AV-over-IP Era

According to NETGEAR’s Pro AV division, the agreement will ensure that a range of their switches come pre-certified for use with Riedel systems. This includes the company’s M4250 and M4300 series, both of which are commonly used for high-bandwidth media transport.

Riedel’s MediorNet ecosystem, which handles distributed routing, video processing, and multi-directional signal flow—relies increasingly on IP infrastructure. The ability to deploy it alongside switches pre-configured for AV traffic gives integrators a more reliable foundation, especially for:

  • OB trucks and mobile broadcast units

  • Esports facilities

  • Performing arts centres

  • Corporate production studios

  • Major public events and festival environments

This alignment is designed to reduce project engineering time, streamline system design, and provide global support continuity.

A Win for Global Integrators

The partnership resonates beyond any single market, including APAC, Europe, the Middle East, and the US. AV-over-IP continues to accelerate, driven by the shift toward flexible production, remote contribution, and scalable system infrastructures. Integrators frequently cite network configuration as one of the most time-consuming barriers to delivering IP-based media systems.

Making NETGEAR’s AV switches and Riedel’s media platforms interoperable out of the box could address some of the most common engineering pain points—particularly around multicast routing, QoS configuration, bandwidth resilience, and clocking stability.

Positioning for the Future of Networked Media

Riedel and NETGEAR have both stated that the partnership includes joint training initiatives, coordinated technical support, and expanded compatibility testing. For end users and AV designers worldwide, this creates a more unified and dependable product ecosystem, one positioned to support low-latency video transport, larger distributed systems, and hybrid IP/SDI environments.

As the global AV industry continues its shift from traditional point-to-point connectivity toward distributed IP infrastructure, partnerships like this one serve as strategic indicators of where the market is heading. For integrators, broadcasters, and venues adapting to next-generation systems, the NETGEAR–Riedel announcement marks a meaningful step forward in simplifying the path to robust AV-over-IP deployments worldwide.
